"black as night"

By haunted

the flames are mesmerizing
in it's warm inducing trance
just a witch upon the stake
to burn where devils dance

nails curl... toes are raw
ankles stripped of skin
innocence is burning
a curse is felt within

puritans so confused
a witch hunt has begun
a servant for the dark
on display under the sun

flames caress her hips
this madness all in vain
heaven locks it's doors
in hell exists no pain

but, to the sound of rolling thunder
her soul takes darkened flight
across the stormy sky
the day is black as night

unholy water falls
it's rain like sharpened glass
puritans seeking shelter
are huddled in a mass

revenge with no repent
as hell has taken her side
she rises out of the ashes
where witches will never die

nightmares and misfortune
days are stripped of light
always unseen in the dark
always black as night
