Haunted

By Phalanx

You never see the roads ahead,
Just the ones that brought you here and
It seems to be such a magic journey of misery
Only able to be explained with a punch line and
An "i'll be damned" or two.

Home becomes an echo
With the ones you lost still living inside you
Wishing you could show them
That even though they may have let go,
You still carry that pain for them.
Because you won't allow yourself to be forgiven.

This is what it means to be haunted.
