There Is Only

By cre

there is only silence
and in the silence, screams
there is only darkness
and in the darkness, dreams
there is only waiting
for the emptiness to fill
but there is also knowing
that it never will
there is only breathing
each tattered painful breath
knowing one more down
is one more step towards death
there is only madness
a seething angry mess
seeing in your hatred
you've made your life much less
there is only sadness
and in the sadness, tears
but you refuse to cry them
they only make you fear
there is only nothing
and in that nothing, peace
for only when you're nothing
will you finally be free.

hopeless, i tread paths that fill with dust, each step i take obscured the view, like i'm in my grave... and all i can think to do is wander further on and on and on and on and on and on...

Definately something everyone should read. It has many defining points and qualities. It kind of reminds me of when Billy Corgan said "emptiness is lonliness and lonliness is cleanliness and cleanliness is godliness and god is empty, just like me."

  • A former member wrote: The poem is very rhythmic- bonded in contrast, breaks up in the middle, then returns to the harmony in the end. I like the way it draws you in at first then expands then recloisters. Nice.
