monet would vomit.
By Six-Out
I wrote a poem.
and then burned my notebook.
sort of a; symbolic back button. without
the technology. like milking truth from some sort
of hopeless meandering of the mind.
the air still smells of ink.
and the paper can't collect my dreams anymore.
so I'll just stop sleeping
because in the way we all exist.
existing is only
past tense.
past tense. in the way my pen scars the paper
and drags across the ashes.
in points and purpose.
we're drenched in ego.
while the room smells o.f. lighter fluid and sulfer.
dreams are expendable.

It's nice to go back and read old works. I'm glad this one popped up. It seemed to fit perfectly with the way I've been feeling lately. You'll always be one of my favorites, Jon.

stout self criticism here, maybe? everything is expendable if existence is past tense, I guess... very thought provoking.... sad... well composed and developed with thorough depth of thought and image.... awesome work, man.

And sometimes dreams turn to shit...*goes dada and throws poop on the ashes, throws a canvas on top to make a relief...then leaves quickly as this is really stinky(the fluid, poop etc...not the poem)

what mr. anth had said had been dead on...in my near post-teen life crisis, the angst in this piece and the scope of the poem really got to me...very cool

many writers, myself included; have used various metaphors for burning thier work, i used 'a kind ofvsuicide' in a recent work but this is the first time im sure, that someone has said symbolic back button and its a brilliant modern metaphor. i think youve expressed before existence as past tense and its something thats always struck me yet hard to wrap your mind around, i think because a lot of us are caught up in our past too much to move on, everything becomes memory, dreams..expendable..this was a poem with purpose and impactm the last verse resonates.. the title made me think of jackson pollock

irony....pollock and his drips and splashes and BEIng IN the painting itself was exactly my thought...this needs to BE IN, not jsut be OF. ..great refractive piece. ness
