Demon for Hire
By Circe Avalon
A Cry comes out of a darkened alley
A cat screams in the night
A Shadow over the moon
And Demon steps into a pool of light
The creature comes out of the vacumm of a void
He pops his collar and steps into his ride
The lunatic behind the wheel just got his bonds untied
A rev of the engine, the tires squeal
Hitin' the streets, People to Kill
Fever on the Road,
Light poles and street signs
Money makes the world go round
Murder just makes it worth it
Devil for Hire
Hitman for fun
Assassinations a hobby
Blood as a drug
The Demon chuckles
Smoke weeps from his grin
A black nailed finger points
"take a right here"
The driver careens
A mad screech of glee
Tried to hit a cat
Missed a tree
The Mad Man halts
and the demon steps out
"wait here for me, and try to keep it down"
He gently closes the cab door
And steps onto the cement
Wet from the dew
To the address he's been sent
He walks in the house
Makes himself at home
Chooses a set, picks up the phone
"I'm here"
A man walks in
with a political air
he sets down his suitcase
And looks at his chair
Startled and amused
"What ploy is this?"
He loosens his tie
Pulls off his vest
"I'm here to kill you"
He says casually
The devils eye twinkle
He remembers the fee
Dear Sir, Your soul is now mine
You haven't made use of it
You've soilen it with crime
Perfect for me but not so much for you
But don't worry now
Not much for you to do
The man drops his keys
Looks down at his shoes
Curses all those things
He chose to do
He looks at the monster
Asks "Who sent you?"
The Devil just chuckles
And anwsers "He's next to you"
He points to a phantom
The spirit whos' paid
For this backstabbing man
To get what he's gave
"Why are you doing this?"
The man asks this devil
" I get your soul and
I get to stay on your level"
The demon stands up
And rips out the mans soul
Puts it in his pocket turns to the ghost
"It's time to go"
They pile in the car
Fire burst from the rear
The madman asks "where to next?"
And The Devil says "Everywhere"

Exceptional... loved the darkness, and the ending was (apart from exuding an aspect of humanity's total destruction) quite well done. Truly amazing, as they say...
