Longing for that Stranger

By Circe Avalon

That girl who stares out the passenger window
Her piercing eyes
her perfectly shaped lips
with the face of an angel
an inspiration to the gods
She sighs and her eyes meet yours
For mere moments your breathing is in sync
A plausible future runs it's course through your head
taking her in your arms
being her everything
living happily ever after
Your eyes break away and the light turns green
As her car pulls into the intersection you realize one thing
You will never have her
All those lofty thoughts scatter to the wind
reality sets her pace again
and you will never know that girl
or the what might have been with her
she doesn't exist
she never did
I am her
