By Six-Out

in a moment- everything. that you know. is gone
and I watched it. -his eyes go glass
and his hands fall. as everything was ripped away

I can remember the sound- the crack.crack.crack. of his skull
meeting a hollow point. and tasting divinity
.
I wept for a cause that night.

-
and it's easy to see- sitting on the hood of this broken-down car.
.the fragility of what we take for granted.
as I toss aside another burnt down cigarette- and think
of how it once was a part of something. bigger.
itself. now no more than ash- lost. forgotten
and nothing to anyone.

limitless- it's all been said before- is what the'll say to you
even though that's been said before. and we're nowhere near original
no- we're nowhere near alive.
is what I've said. again and again.

/we _are_ the culture that cried wolf. is what I've been told
as the plastic-made millionaires bleed to death on a silver screen
and we cry for fiction-

-
her eyes- how they bled tears of affliction. that night
as I slammed down the phone- and screamed out in metaphor
you.are.not.my.fucking.life_ and she wept
for a cause that night.

a broken.winged angel of something more than myself.
with whispered words of love/trickling down an open wound
and she cries out- it's breathtaking.
to say the absolute
least.

that. my friends- is a miracle.

_
and I flick my thumb across a lighter- and watch a flame spark into being.
to turn a few more tobacco stained memories. into ash

break.me- I've asked of myself more than once
and I never have an answer. and I can't look myself in the eyes anymore.
and tomorrow is just too far away. to matter.

and I'm humbled by the stars in the sky
just long enough to forget- that they're already dead.
