riverside reveries. -a lucid goodbye
By Six-Out
before tonight- I hadn't seen the stars in three months
and now. it's so amazingly beautiful.
peeling the label off of another generic beer. tasting midnight
and nearly grasping forever- but losing it in the smoke
watching the water rushing by. this is what life is
a mirage/ a river running dry. and not a worry in the world
-
like those 3am memories. flashing by like an 80's film
view slightly distorted- but just enough color to matter
pick up lines and broken dreams. at the diner on highway 60
with a cheap motel and a half smoked cigarette
trying to find reality is impossible.
pixilated intentions. and goodbye's can shatter the silence
a broken dream is cliche- and a teardrop from the heavens is heartbreaking
sometimes. just sometimes/ it's all too much.
-standing at the edge. the water is frighteningly fast below
and it's go-time. now or never in the past tense. what should've been
isn't
take a step or live.
it's those pin.pricked dreams. laced in meloncholy denial
that makes goodbye so hard.
and I've never been one for a tear stained parting
with one foot on the crest of a tongue tied melodrama
and the other breaking the plane of what can be
I can see beauty- but I can't touch it
not yet
wash away the past.
and listen to the last words. crush the silence
from farewell to adieu.
this is nowhere near the end.

Nicely written poem. It’s almost as if it has its own heartbeat.

Sixy, this is just superb. Your words are beautifully melancholy yet oddly relaxing. I find this style of your works are like a meditation in sadness.
