The Schism
By dwells
My faithful robot never leaves my side
We made her from the dreams of mortal men
She gives me all the love that you denied
And every bloke I know gives her a ten
We fabricate and make them just for us
Obedient and always wanting more
They never put on airs or make a fuss
They cook our meals and manage every chore
We ridicule romance and wonder why?
Another time when women ruled the day
All jealousy and greed was soon to die
No longer are we servants to their sway
Our women now are in the Breeding Pen
(the best of us contribute to our race)
And all the children call them “Mother Hen”
Our robot lovers full of life and grace

Many thanks PV and there is nothing worse than anticipating a predictable rhyme in the next line. Some people refuse to read it at all. I have dabbled in both (beats doing crosswords). I learned meter and form on another site about 10 years ago, when Jack had difficulty enrolling me in a DP class. Nice to finally meet you too! Cheers! and I love robots - Dan

What a scary thought ... love from a machine! Don’t give ‘em any ideas dwells , lol. As always you leave the reader with something to think about. Kind of Orwellian. I really enjoyed this. Peace brother- m0

Reminds me of a segment from Bill Burr’s most recent Netflix special... It may happen...how could reality ever compete with the subservient creation designed to perfectly appeal to our lizard brain? The machines may indeed $&@% us out of existence. :) Ciao, T/S

I was intrigued by your title and pondered, at length, its application to my perceived ideology of it's content. Maybe this is merely a direct response to some internal conflict regarding a short piece i will be submitting to this site of the same title (I do so love the word "schism"). Eventually I came to realize that I enjoyed your piece simply for its occupation of my mind...thanks. tonebone
