Back in the Shadow Again

By Sean Mc Shane

beautiful midnight rose, blackest in full bloom
left for the murder of love, under a blood red moon

night winds with the scent of sin
carried to my waiting unforgotten grave
on the whisps of shadows that still reach
into the unseen depths of a collapsing cave

colored echoes in never's dead silence
ancestral choir of voices in all dark art
the sweet destiny of a sacred kind of oblivion
I thank them for playing your part

such brilliant sparkles in hellfire flames
charring the golden rot between each belief
calls from the rusted wreckage of truth
the Reaper's coming to swing her relief

after I burn down my temples of romance
raise high the banners of modern lust
forget about the legends of the big blue sky
there's nothing up there to keep my trust

when hope spawns monsters of  surreal vengeance
to rape my creative mind's birth-hole
while snowflake ashes of love
lay thick blankets of gray over my black earth soul

now I'll watch uncertain sides be drawn
between what I used to believe for fun
and what I believe again thru hate
while keeping the rest of me under God's golden gun . . .

. . . so what'd ya think ?
" I like it. It was dark. Real dark."
Will ya post it for me ?
"Sure, I'll post it for ya. Don't want them to forget my other half."
Thanks . . . well, I better get back in the shadow . . .  again.  Obviously ya don't
need me around anymore.
" Not today, but maybe someday."
Yeah . . . speakin' of someday . . . ya know I'm never gonna stop tryin' to kill ya.
" I know . . . and I'd be highly upset if ya did stop tryin'. "
Cool . . . well . . . see ya . . .
" See ya . . . enjoy the free time. "
Fuck you . . .

Curious piece that had me riveted to a surprise ending, not completely unexpected. Well-crafted and wholly original. By the way, what is the caliber of God's Gun and does he use hollow points like the 2 million more rounds that Homeland Security just ordered to keep us in line? But I digress - cheers Sean!
