Carpenter.

By xZombie Poptartzx

       Broken beyond repair...

Cracked, and tarnished.
         Like a piece
of furniture,
        no longer varnished.

Laying helpless, scared.
          Worrying about things
in which we could
           never be prepared...

Am I heartless, or cold?
                   Because I don't
react well when you
                   try to remold.

You're not meant
                  to feel humble.
So please just sit back
                 and watch my pieces crumble...

.... Because I never asked you
                                             to be my carpenter.

Some things that are broken n tarnished are the most beautiful. However it can be painful to those that love you to not be able to 'mend' some of your 'scratches'. Jadie used to tell me all the time I couldn't fix people, he hated when other's tried to fix him. I knew, but he helped me understand n accept it. He inspired one of my best pieces because of that, lol - XXOO Scholar

Jadie is the one who ruined me sadly lol and i fear he may be un-fixable... I gave up long ago. Sometimes people are just meant to stay broken i guess. xoxo

Sounds pretty normal to me and it is an acquired skill, not to worry about stuff we can't control, cheers ZPT!

  • A former member wrote: You aren't heartless, if you were heartless you would not ask yourself if you were, and you would not worry. you poetic skill is marvellous and flows with great emotion. keep it up :)

  • A former member wrote: that last line is a wrecking ball. beautiful and deeply personal. i read this when you posted and felt the same, and it's still just as effective. i've read quite a few of your other poems, and this is your best to date, i think. you've really honed in on your craft, not a word misplaced. xo

Thank you :) and I agree... definitely tacky heh

  • A former member wrote: The feelings of being broken and down trod, yet knowing its deserved and 'fitting' a sensation surprisingly few people understand. Then there are always those people who see that and think they have found themselves a wonderful project to mend.

Yeah... I get that when someone cares they want to 'help" you.... but there's a difference between helping, and fixing.

Totally feel the passion behind your voice on that one - the amount of times I have fallen apart, and wanted to be left like that - i miss being broken. This was a great write and I cannot offer any improvements. A perfect 10 from me :)
