Fait Accompli
The jobs they train us for, do not exist.
My college debt is high; my skills are low.
No extra points for me, yet I persist.
My demographic told: “Cease and desist”.
I learn to get along; go with the flow.
The jobs they train us for, do not exist.
Rejection greets us with a velvet fist.
Success becomes the future they bestow.
No extra points for me, yet I persist.
They cheer each time we open up a wrist;
yet I have much to do and far to go.
The jobs were there, but we did not exist.
Inconsequential bodies in their midst;
our demons, fertilized to make them grow.
No extra points – they add me to their list.
The darkness calls and I cannot resist.
Tomorrow they will say: “We told you so!”
The jobs are new in tear gas midnight mist;
with bayonets we learn to thrust and twist.

That's odd, I frequently ponder how everything that has evolved has led us to where we are now. How the predecessors; almost insequential & unimportant or just a memory that never existed to the forced machine & ways of where everything is going and how it should be. Wondering if people even stopped to pay homage to the forefathers that led us here. Very touching to me personally. Great work, Dan.

So easy to read, the flow and repeated lines are so smooth. Love "Rejection greets us with a velvet fist" very ingenious.

I enjoyed this very much! They will say "I told you so!" Yup, they sure will...this is a depressing cycle we are in. I was listening to a lecture about the 1892 election cycle and there were some interesting parallels to now...that cheered me a bit in that we have been here before, survived, and grown stronger. We shall see! Ciao, T/S
