Nashville and purple hair

By Dejected_Worth

The neon signs of Nashville
Posted four per block
Illuminated the rundown pavement
But still managed to find the subtle tones
Of purple in your hair.
My memory of you arises in scents,
Your perfume my whiskey,
The vomit down each alley.
Our conversation missing pieces
Between each bar,
Blaring loud and churning out
This sad excuse for cookie-cutter folk.
Yet I'm pretty sure I caught enough to know,
That it isn't me... it's you.
Elvis statues with broken fingers...
Ass-slapped waitresses with failing livers...
But somehow the neon found
the subtle tones of purple of your hair...
But I lost faith in Nashville,
And you..

Masterpiece! I love the repeated refrain of "subtle tones Of purple in your hair", offset against all the cheap, dirty, frenetic surroundings...and then linking the purple with those surroundings... Excellent job with this! I love how you can create a complete scene, storyline and mood so efficiently and eloquently. Ciao, T/S Scholar
