The water called to the liquid in her eyes
And the tears did then begin to rise
Within this space of hollow sound
And unmistakable call of moisture seeking ground
a drip
a drip
Echoing within the walls of all they sought to quell
As he said "why" and cried to break this spell
She drew within herself and trembling paled
And surely eons came and went before her breath exhaled
"I cannot"
A droop of head and she said "You know that it will rain"
For the world itself grew cold and wept at her enduring pain
And all that fell beneath their aching hearts
Twas love for her he dared to then impart
With a gentle touch he peered into her soul
"I know."
"My dear, I know."
And then the receding water slowly swirled away
As she sighed and let a final tear sweep softly down her face.
