Paper White

By Narcissa

Can I sleep here tonight?
My flesh is chilled and paper white
My delicate form will cease to be
Once Winter has his way with me

...There's a warmth in your eyes
Like wine at twilight
Your arms gown my shivers
As fretful fingers entertain urgent skin
The appeal of forbidden glistens on your lips
Leaving me wet
With elated tears
Shelter safe
As I drift away
In the lull of your exhalation...

Scorch me with your loving ember
I perfumed your pillow to remember
Since my petals fade in fume
No one holds a flower with out the bloom

Wow, I do have to agree that last line is a knockout. You wield your creativity refined with precision. Love it.

Are there not some who hold tightly the flower long past its bloom? Sweet sweet sentiment expressed with ageless imagery.

I agree with this guy ;) he sounds familiar. Just as back then, the sentiment here is binding in it's sincerity and effectiveness. An example of poetry I can defend as such and recommend for the content. Thank you, it is a shame your words are not as prevalent as they once were around here. Hope you are well, ms Narcissa.

You must be doing something right, to get these kinds of comments and bookmarks. You should seriously consider authoring a book of poetry. You have so many pieces relating to flowers and nature, it makes the concept of it very easy to handle. Who knows, you might be exactly what this world is looking for. Do me the favor and at least look into what it would take to get it done.

And can I be that icy breeze that causes uncontrollable shivers tonight if I promise to make it warmer tomorrow?

Of course...you were the one that inspired me to find a flower I neglected. So between you, the book Im reading, and some unresolved feelings this is what you get.
