any other night

By cre

stars that would have struck my eye
on any other night
now glimmer more dimly
as though they cannot spare their light
while a breeze whispers
to an ear that does not care
and no more joy is felt
at whipping wind-tossed hair
and salty spray and crashing waves
may as well be still
for all they once were loved
there remains so little thrill
a world more filled with beauty
has rarely graced my sight
and I would have so adored it
on any other night.

It's strange how you notice the worlds simple beauty when you most depressed and yet even such beauty cannot raise the weight of what you're feeling. Odd also, we seem to not notice these simply beauties when we're not depressed.

BEAUTIFUL!!! This comes together so wonderfully! It as if every word was created simply to occupy the place in which you have put them in this poem. A perfect, simple scene...~DW~

  • A former member wrote: just because her inspiration is of a common dusk we all share every now and then, doesn't mean its forced... i believe this was beutifully put together and expresses her feelings at that exact moment so vividly, it gives me a sad feeling when i read it. w

characteristically cre, with a touch of robert frost mixed with a half dose of prozac. how beautifully you write, jane, and always time well spent visiting your page and tasting your images.

I appreciate what you all have taken the time to communicate to me, here, more than you may know. I generally don't reply to comments but I feel compelled to express my gratitude. Thank you, it brings tears to my eyes.
