Night So Dark

By cre

Night so dark and day so cold I always did what I was told
And here I lie and now I cry and wait for little girl to die
Hand on fist I push against the feelings that become of this
Covered eyes and hidden lies and feelings never un-despised
Shackled hands and banded feet while jesus save me I repeat
No ears hear my hidden fears or see the crashing of my tears
Like wave on rock, no key for lock and all I have is empty talk
Empty hollow like a bell no salvation in my hell
Who are you and who am I, who I was has long since died
No more feelings no more thoughts no more battles being fought
So that was me but I’m not free, still tied down by history
So there I lie, and choose to die. And all the shame’s .. forever mine.

a chant more than a poem. It sounds like something that could be repeated over and over...kinda like Demos said. A favorite of mine

i just read this and said to hattie, "my god. shes so awesome. i could just die thinking im a poet." i kept getting this picture of someone walking around a stage with audiences all round reciting this and growing increasingly louder and louder and faster

until! at the end, she stops, and says the second half of the last line softly, then drops her head. the lights fade to black. now think that in your brain. multiply it by fifty billion times, and you have some slight notion of how awesome it is. -B
