My Little Fishbowl
By cre
Going too fast
Out of consciousness falling
The engine was running
But now it's just stalling
Caught now inside
this reverberating
silence so loud
on my skin is grating
Obsidian dreams
swallow me whole
"50 cents please"
you must pay the toll
if you can't pay
you must not pass
scrounging around
for two quarters fast
5 dimes
take me away
breathe my life different
write a new play
crashing around
in a splashing red sea
glass on the beaches
cutting up me
bleed a new time
for my wandering soul
i never felt trapped
inside this fish bowl
until it crashed
on your mahogany floor
acidic those waters
burned open new doors
smell of wood burning
my heart is racing
thumping too wildly
newer dreams chasing
i want to see
i want to see
the land between the seas
this land, this land
this land between the seas
this land was meant for me
Falling too fast
into consciousness slamming
too many thoughts
into dizzy brains ramming
Exhausted sleep
swallows me whole
no dreams for me
in my little fishbowl.
