Haunted Forest, A Feast For Wolves

By Intoxicating Delirium

Oh, little bunny, I’m sorry your hurt
Come, little bunny, I’ll patch you all up
Mommy and daddy said not to go far
But this poor bunny has cuts so bizarre

Running fast through the trees, it’s hard to keep up
I’ve lost you sweet bunny, which way did you turn
The night now upon us, the moon will not rise
I’m sorry sweet bunny you’ve met your demise

The darkness creeps in
There’s a chill in the air
What path did I take, which way did I come
Panic now rising, my skin going numb

Hearing voices all around me, I’m frozen in place
The blackness is blinding there’s a scream from afar
Trying to run, there are hands on my skin
Beginning to scream, voice lost in the wind

I break from his grip and step into blackness
Trembling and running, the branches like razors
New gashes ripped open, my skin wet from blood
I cry as I trip and fall into mud

Are those bones I feel at the tips of my fingers
I hear howling now and a grasp at my ankles
There’s a pitter patter of feet in the woods
Bleeding and stuck, a feast for wolves

It seems the bunny and I have a few things in common
A feast for the wolves on Thanksgiving Day
The blood is now dripping, into my eyes
It looks as though I have met my demise

Disturbing, telling write that makes no promises to happy endings. One might get the chilling feeling that mother nature witnessing such a gruesome sight , gathered her children to hurry along. Nicely written nightmare

What an excellent job you've done here miss Caitlin! Congratulations for winning the contest, a deserving write for sure. My pulse sped up with each stanza's finish. Thrilling, chilling, and quite fulfilling! I do enjoy the thrill of each hunt you take us on, very nice indeed. You simply must post more often, your works are much enjoyed. Thanks for writing....

A very proper way to express a literal take on the feast for wolves. Id say maybe edit a few of your rhymes, like woods and wolves do not really rhyme, but few words rhyme with wolves so I understand. Maybe switching it from a pack of wolves into a lone wolf, since I think rhyming wolf properly is a little, simpler. The best thing to do though, is to test yourself in making a very rad rhyme scheme for wolves! Good stuff, just needs a little work if you ask me :) a few minutes maximum just smoothing out the wrinkles, ya know?
