Harbinger Of Death
By Malcholm Dark
From
a distance so far away
and from a time so long ago.
When
stars collaspe and worlds decay
where galaxies refuse to glow.
It skates across the Saturn rings
effortlessly through time
and space.
The ageless one, the prophet sings
on course
to greet the human race.
We've watched it now for one
long year
heading toward its' destination.
Riding upon
the wings of fear
an errand of annihilation.
No astronauts
in NASA ships
no captain Kirk to save us now.
As cries
of sorrow pass our lips
I guess it evens out somehow.
Watch now, the harbinger of death
most probably our final
sight.
The sky falls down, we hold our breath
eyes disolve
in a flash of light.
The sky turns into fiery dust
as
life on earth comes to an end.
Our world becomes a redish rust
a million years for it to mend.
Yet here upon this world
now dead
within the sludge of mud and sins.
Where once
we lived, where once we bled
life finds a way and it begins.

I liked this. Every beginning is the result of the destruction of a previous existence. Nicely penned!

Damn those pesky asteroids! Just look what they've done to the surface of the Moon, and the Dinosaurs are still bitching too! Marvellously postulated - all things in the fullness of time, cheers MD!
