Diving - Repost
By cre
Sun so hot
pavement burnt feet and concrete heat
the cool, cool shade.
I was always afraid to dive.
Tempted with the waving of the water
the cool, cool water
The glancing sun drew camera-flash sparkles
through widened childhood eyes.
I was still afraid to dive.
How many trips
To the end of a nameless spring
Until I could finally fling
My body
Into the cool relief
Something we all seek.
Fear delays me
But it will not stop me.
I will not always be afraid
To dive.

I hope you will be afraid to dive...all your life. Because the world would be less without you in it. You...you need to be something great on my bookshelf. You need to be recognized and world-renowned.

The repetition gives this an interesting rhythm through to the contrast at the end. I enjoyed, and certainly identified with it.
