Fading Out

By Lylani

We started with forevers,
But now all I hear are ticking clocks
And make believe I love you's
We were soulmates, once
Now we're more like statues
Bound in matrimony
The secrets we whispered
silenced
And knowing smiles
Replaced with hollow eyes

We are fading
Freezing
The tenderness I knew
Congealing
Cementing itself away
You hide behind walls of steel
A foot deeper than my arms can reach

My hands are bloodied clawing at the vault
Your heart is locked within
My throat scratched dry
From screaming your name
All my being exhausted
From fighting for us, alone

All I want is for you to look at me,
Just once more
See the woman I am
And Love me

So when my eye wonders
Don't be surprised
When my bags are packed
Don't wonder why
But when you see me smile
Know
I wanted it to be you
But there's was only so much silence I could take
