The Nature of Things

By Stranger

This is the nature of things
That you tempt
The network of my arteries and veins
A perfectly woven web
A spider, incandescent green
The size of a fist
Spread out at its center
Pumping honey colored venom
You would dare
Touch a sticky thread
Exciting hunger
Fangs readying themselves
For guests
You would struggle against
This subtle adhesion
Every panicked movement
Wrapping you tighter
Bringing us closer
Until that merciful piercing
Numbing you like shock
Before I begin to feed
Slowly, deeply

A few indifferent snips
A husk falls to the ground
I spin; I mend
Hurriedly
Morning is coming
I do my best work at night

this is delectable... the way it's written, too, is just so sensual and, as snowqueen said, chilling. the kind of poem i'd consider love poetry.
