the best way to kill a vagrant

By Taunting The Reaper

if I had a nickel for every vagrant I ever walked by
on the streets of New York…
it wouldn’t make a difference
I wouldn’t be able to buy them coffee
or a new life
or a soul

if I had a nickel for every vagrant I ever walked by
I’d put it into a jar and never spend it
I’d be ashamed
me with so many nickels
the streets brimming with so many vagrants
I’d tuck this guilt-jar away
like so many memories
like so many dreams
like so many brothers and sisters
and mothers and fathers
and so many people who’ve lost hope
on streets that lead nowhere

I’d put this jar somewhere useful
like a million feet under the sea
or in the molten lava of an active volcano
or in the white house
or in the Vatican

this jar, their jar, my jar
is the best way to kill a vagrant

I have had friends from the rich side of life with so many posessions and still they are so uninspired and depressed in spite of all thier money, cars, houses, jewels, furs, pools, then I found a friend in a street person. She taught me to be thankful for the simple things in life, a warm cup of coffee means so much on a cold night, a little change can go a long way, I volunteered at the church and soup kitchen and found kindred spirits in so many there, true people, lovely people, simple people. Now I see why it is gonna be so hard for the rich to get entance into heaven and the poor will walk right in. These are Gods people, the meek and down trodden. Take time to talk to one of the ones you pass and maybe you will see like I did, The beauty in the vagrants. Blessed Be.

It certainly is a tragic circumstance that too many ppl are in. Be cool if we all pitched in and helped our brothers and sisters out. Good to see someone cares. Thanks for the read ~Ash
