Still Falling Awake..

By Dejected_Worth

The ghosts of '98
left so-so fading wakes
of seldom separate 100 proof grace
we rent these lives at hourly rates
And It seems Mary isn't alright these days
Do you keep these scars for pleasure
or for pain?

How the Hell are we still falling awake?

The Cold gets worse
as we get older
I grew up to fall back down
I traded up from one-time dreams
to whole sale nightmares
But we all know Mary's not alright these days
Do you down these pills for pleasure
or for pain?

Why the Hell are we still falling awake?

I bought two tickets. one way
Grey hound to LA
I wanted so bad to leave
you only wanted me to stay
I called to ask if you would come with me
You laughed at my childish display
The poetry of fallen stars and empty bars
I swear I'll be a man some day
But some days, it's not enough to change
And God knows Mary's not alright these days
"Did you turn you back from pleasure
or from pain?"

"How the Hell are you still just falling awake?"

good words...well put together, a lot of emotion in this plaintive cry

I really like this--falling awake--excellent concept. This feels like song lyrics--again, really well done.
