the madness of rainbows

By Taunting The Reaper

insanity is a rainbow
a myriad of colors entangled
piercing the sky
with the noblest arc
you’d almost think it belonged there
and if you reached for it
you might find it reaching back

I started spelling my name backwards
hoping to erase my past along the way
bringing everything back to zero
square one
it wasn’t until I managed to spout out
the very last letter
that I realized my mouth had filled
with a colorful light
it tasted quite familiar
as if it had been there before
or was waiting for me to remember something
so that it could find its way back in

I looked around and wondered if anyone saw
the iridescent glow on my lips
would they judge me?
would they understand my plight?
somewhere along the line I inhaled
and sent a spiraling circus of light
to the deepest reaches of my core

now I spend my days amongst the clouds
racing through the heavens
after every storm
caressing each mist
with shimmering shades
of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo
and violet
because the vivid rays dance
when the rain is gone
and somewhere inside me
the deafening sound of madness
lives on

I love poetry that I can see almost dancing in front of me in holographic detail when I close my eyes and repeat your words in my head. This certainly does the trick.
