Deep & Meaningless Relationship

By Lylani

Sometimes we were friends
Sometimes lovers
Sometimes merely aquaintances

More often
We were strangers
Seeking comfort

When our paths crossed
Our lines blurred
We were everything in that moment
And nothing in eternity

Our bodies entwined
In
Loneliness
And
Desperation
To entertain our misplaced good intentions

How foolish we were
To imagine ourselves safe
Physically sated
In an emotional void

We wasted so much time
Surviving
Forgetting how to
Live
cheapened every experience
To animalistic urges
Good fun but nothing special

How petty and pathetic
I find myself
Giving comment where none is needed
Now that you've found love

I agree with the rest, very nice. I just wonder why people are surprised when these things happen - not to suggest you were surprised. Maybe it's just me not setting my expectations in anyone very high. But still, I'm rarely disappointed.

aw man i know how this feels. it's lonely but then you get to think that there's something else. and then you find it. and sometimes you throw it away cause life's ironic like that? i don't know. but i do know that this was one amazing piece.

But was it so meaningless? how do we open ourselves up w/o ever really knowing that we do. I agree...great piece.

Honest write. Nicely done. I agree with veingo, the third stanza is excellent.

Ahh. There is so much truth in this. So true it hurts. ^V^
