...Victims of the Fall

By SolApathy

Into the sunset hues of a Fall without you
Drifting leaves chafing my skin
Feeling their brittle end
Twisted this once beautiful transition
Now just a dark sunset rendition
As the sun drifts into angles of stellar cold
I wither in the memories of this ravaged soul
Exposing the frozen remnant for which I have no control
Feel the freeze as you gaze within
Absolute zero of a heart at its end
I tread upon fallen leaves
Their cracking a symptom of love’s disease
No silence in this expanse of unheard pleas
I bring the winter as I am the oncoming storm
Ending any hope of it ever being warm

Enjoyed the imagery and the somber, even flow in this. Where many keep the edges of this type of sadness harsh and stinging, it's portrayed with a more smoothed off, polished feel without losing its deep effect.

Thank you, that was my objective in this poem to smooth off the edges.

Whenever Fall approaches, one can't help but mourn the passing of yet another summer, but deep down we know that life begins anew with each passing season. Perhaps I'm reading this all wrong, but that's the feeling I get from this beautiful write. Lovely poem, dearest. Rebs:).
