Breathing

By DarkDruidess

My life seems to be pulsating
Alternating between pushing close
And pulling me into open space
Slowly suffocating me, stifling everything
Then drowning me in the too much
Leaving me left wide open
Hysterical and alone again
Frantic for that exhale to reel
Me into another warm humid embrace
Where bound I finally feel safe
Coddled into a placid existence
Until my soul screams for release
A breath sending me into another
Hectic burst of activity…chaos
Widening my eyes to the new
Inundating my brain with learning
Till I must let go and delve again
Into bondage and walls finding
Solace in close contact, envelopment
Loving the ties that bind for now
Dragging it out…just waiting for another
Deep breath to push me towards the edge
Where finally it’s not too much
And I can accept the end…

DD this was angry and perfect and almost a rant but, too personal and insightful to cast aside as just foaming at the mouth. You are always a blessed presence when you deign to dip your toe into our lives - digging it! Cheers!!

  • A former member wrote: Interesting conflictual situation between the comfortable binding of the soul and the need for release after a while, sort of like finding comfort in living underwater but still needing to breathe fresh air. Thanks for sharing.

There is a lot here. A LOT. I'm so tired right now, I don't have the mental energy to do "comment justice" on this. But I wanted to leave a note to let you know how much I like it and appreciate the share. P.S I have never known another Avoidant. It makes a difference to me, and now I must go back and reread your poetry. Lol.
