Chainsmoke

Chainsmoke
All these cheap cigars
are only good for an ignition-
Although I only smoke a small handfull
a day-
I love the feel, hate the taste, but in the ash exists a schism-
Chainsmoking in my dreams to chase the midnight screams away-
Everytime I light one up, I think about the Past-
It's poison like
the nicotine, exhaling smoke damnation-
Chasing demons out of my
mind, until I am the Last-
And as I chase the aftertaste, I breathe
in Daylight's revalation.

I hear ya. Used to be a smoker. The line about loving the feel and hating the taste, absolutely. and makes for an effective metaphor as well. I wrote a poem glorifying smoke in a different way. titled Smoke Rings... or some nonsense like that. Anyways, well done.

Anything but Erik, almost killed a friend of mine (if even still sold). We all gotta have our vices - be thankful for the smokes, cool piece bro!

Smoke those damn chains away, and the invisible ones are the most hardened. Cheers DK-6
