music that never ends

By Taunting The Reaper

there is music that never ends

all around us

it can be found

on the withering branch of an old tree

where a nest of hungry cardinals

pluck at the most glorious chords

the very sound of a will to survive

fills the infinite sky

there is music that never ends

you will see it when

bold waves crash against rock

nearly coaxing it awake

and  in the gentle tug of the tide

lapping at the shoreline like a playful pup

there is music that never ends

in the voice of a dear friend

eyes that raptly watch you

finding you in your sorrows

cheering you in your splendor

illuminating your very next step

alongside of you

however finite the path

however infinite each treasured moment

there is a music that never ends

watch it grow

within the fertile soil of life

wondrous beyond applause

a newborn whose first naked scream

shakes the very pillars of a mother's heart

with the cathartic grandeur of adagio violins

the soothing notes of a brilliant concerto

about to begin

there is a music that never ends

in the intoxicating light of a new day's sun

another chance to bask

in the surrender of new possibilities

leaving the shadows that taught us of yesterday

and embracing a new way to dance
