End Game
By Stranger
On that day
The sun will not rise
The world will be dark, everywhere
The only light will be coming from
Our burning children
Hanging from trees, twirling
Like Chinese lanterns
Their cries rising like smoke
Up to heaven
Graying the sky
Choking the angels
And even the saints
But we will be unaware
While we walk in our ever smaller circles
Trying to catch a glimpse of our own backs
The earth will open wide its mouth
Releasing the dragon
We will begin to disappear
One by one
Like the stars at dawn

fucking awesome. "Walking in our ever [shrinking] circles" indeed. Humanity festers through a cyclic existance and most never even notice. You seized the reality of things here and squeezed the finest juices.

and the end times descend, not of god, but of man in his vanity, chains, do no good to keep demons out, but can certainly keep a good man down
