Patiently Yours

By Lylani

I will not utter a word
Or spare a fleeting glance
I will not smile in your direction
Or scrawl my name with yours

I looked upon you forever
with curious wonderment
Barely concealed desire
I spoke your name in hushed words
in screaming crowds
So no-one would hear my devotion

I waited for you
To find a way from acquaintance to friend
To speak of nothing important
To see a spark in your eye
That meant you saw me

I
waited
and
you
found her
To give you comfort
fall in love

I waited and I watched you love
I watched you fall
I watched you hurt
I watched you fight for your happy ending

And then you found your friend
To tell of all the heartaches
Then that spark flashed in your eyes
Your lips brushed mine
When I had counted you lost

But your head still rests on a pillow next to hers
As she'll claim your name as hers

So

I will not utter a word
Or spare a fleeting glance
I will not smile in your direction
Or scrawl my name with yours

But know that I am here
when life is to hard
and dreams are to few

Always and forever waiting patiently for you
