Take the long way round

By Lylani

I'm not waiting for your call
I just get a little excited when the phone rings
And I'm not expecting you to care
I'm just talking volumes in my own deluded monologue
I'm pretending I don't want you
I'm convinced that I don't miss you
but I won't look at your photo, just in case
And I won't walk past the tree where you kissed me
As I'm not sure my heart will remember to keep beating

And if it stopped and I dropped down dead
You might accidentally see
So I'll take the long way round
And keep walking out my contradictions
Till there's nothing left but me
And all that's you is spent
because I can't love you forever,
what would be the point?
