Shards of Yesterday

By Taunting The Reaper

Shards of yesterday
festering inside of me
like so much hope.

Broken.

And until now I hadn’t realized
the more I hoped for
the more I lost
in murky waters
wet with greed.

A handful of seeds
are all that's left,
cracked and dry,
and spiraling away
like so many memories
of yesterday.

That was beautiful. Hope is two-faced and fickle, but still we all yearn for it.

Most seeds must become dry and cracked before they will sprout and take root, so I seem to have found the hidden hope in this tale of dust... ;)
