  • ""If I am going to be drowned - if I am going to be drowned - if I am going to be drowned, then why in the name of the seven mad gods of the sea was I allowed to come thus far and contemplate sand and trees?" Stephen Crane, The Open Boat. Strength and gills, friend. I have known those years. "

  • ".."writing is ritual magic".. Every now and then the random button shows me a gem... Writing is ritual magic and the outlet for those private mythologies we carry within us. "

  • ""If I am going to be drowned--if I am going to be drowned--if I am going to be drowned, why, in the name of the seven mad gods who rule the sea, was I allowed to come thus far and contemplate sand and trees?" -Stephen Crane, The Open Boat. Your words here sparked a recollection of this story. It seems such an act of betrayal when friends become strangers, when the world draws us into different directions. May there always be wind in your sails from worthy companionship...... and may your morality ever be a guiding star. "

  • "Consider this a third gratefulness to discovery... This reminds me of an old Nick Cave song.. "I found her on a night of fire and noise. Wild bells rang in a wild sky... I knew before I met her that I would lose her..." I feel connected to this piece as a woman that races towards freedom and sometimes-thoughtlessness of safety. Thank you. "

  • "“If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile.” - R.W Emerson"

  • "Your combination of phrases describes the situation... but I'm not sensing the desperation, pain, or bitterness. The repetition of simple words gives this a definite layman feel, but don't be afraid to go all-out with emotional rage. It seems like you're dulling it down to be.. polite, almost. Also, watch the spelling errors."

  • "I recently had the opportunity to see a whooping crane... never thought that would happen. At one point, there were only 21 alive in the wild. Two captive born... the female wouldn't go into estrus because she didn't like the male, so one of the male biologists did the whooping crane mating dance for her... she responded and a brood was hatched some time later... love stories like that, and this reminded me of it... thank you, knightmirror ~smiles~"
