orphans of poetry

orphans of poetry

if the sky were to burst into a kaleidoscope, colors of

unfamiliar hues swirling and splendorizing the vast

domain of heaven, would the general populace take

notice? I can hear your voice exclaiming: ‘Of course not!’

and if a spectacle of such magnificence goes unheralded,

what chance does a poem have?

only we poets, who are endowed with a beautiful curiosity,

would bask in such uncommon glory. we do not merely

witness it, we create it.

we are poets. we place a tangle of words on the page,

cryptic, at times unpleasant, as if we are trying to deceive,

yet not deceive. a proclamation of our humble existence,

as we shout that there is still beauty in this world, within

the bubble of suffering and tears.

we offer our art as it is, without boundaries, without

guarantees. If you visit our ethereal temples, you will

find that imperial sky, and that beauty…

  • A former member wrote: This is a lovely tribute to all that take their poetry seriously. So many pleasant visuals contrary to an art that can prominently focus on the negative for greater effect (speaking from personal experience). I very much enjoy your individual artistry.

  • A former member wrote: This work makes me appreciate much. I tend to charge headlong, often too enamored with the motion & activity to notice the still, the quiet wonders that are all around me. So much truth through a small window. This is one of your very best works, & a write you should be proud of. Thanks for the color, & the much-needed perspective.

  • A former member wrote: How true! Without a poet to pen it down, a kaleidoscope sky would eventually fade from memory and be forgotten. It is our purpose. When people are gone the pages of poems will still remain, which brings to question...if a poem falls in the silence and no one is there to watch it...does it make a sound? Beautiful.

They do not have a clue how much they lose! I see these orphans everywhere and is very sad. The only thing we can do is keep writing! For fools, just letters,   for the wise one kaleidoscope.

Then there are those who hate poetry, but my experience has been that they also dislike reading too. So we live vicariously in a world of words that not everybody appreciates, but we are not alone - until they burn the books...cheers FB!

“If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile.” - R.W Emerson
