it's like quoting Henry Rollins

By Devil lyn

tossing back salads and what not
Paul Simon croons
'50 ways to leave your lover'
off the jukebox that
accepts credit/debit cards
in an all-you-can-eat pizza joint
kids are screaming obscenities,
babies are crying in diaper dirty snot
couples are fighting, systematically
it’s enough to make a grown man cry
Henry Rollins once wrote about
Cindy Crawford when models
above a size 6 were fashionable
interesting, fuck-worthy
now models are size 0’s
have headaches from envying
fat women in skinny jeans
who ache to be model thin pretty
for their men day dreaming about
fucking the hot Mexican woman next door;
Mexican women who cross over
strip themselves of color
bleach their hair ten shades whiter
invest in French manicured nails
to lure insecure men into marriage
often wealthy, lonely, bald
to gain their white last names
to claim their fame to divorce
via naturalization screaming “victimized”
while still speaking with accents
as broke(n) as my wallet
that at one time used to be fat, honestly
like those women aching to be thin
to be that size 0 just to trample over men
trying to be their hero especially
to that Mexican woman who once
lived next door to me
who now lives in a Condo
who now drives a Beamer
who now has fake boobs
who now speaks without an accent;
it’s like quoting Henry Rollins:

'See a grown man cry, Now watch him die.'

I glance down at my watch,
his concert starts in an hour.

I really dig your style of writing it engages and engulfs me. I like the use of straight forward talk and references to common things in current culture.

there is something direct about your work, in a very indirect way. The way you weave words is very curious and intriguing, I have enjoyed most of what I have read from you, and I thank you again. I'll have to read the rest

I saw how spot on I was, and immediately regretted not being more rash. Sometimes, there's a thesis and an anti-thesis, a light and a shadow, a lady and a devil, a Ying and a Yang, and without one, the other stands defenseless. That's how I feel about this poem. Also, I can't die; they only seem to take the one's I love, if only to torture me from the outside. ;)

A good, dizzying cluster-fuck of on-the-spot thoughts- Stream of consciousness, I think that's called. I saw you comment on a Jack_White poem earlier and, tbh, your work reminds me a lot of her stuff. Also, bonus points for Henry Rollins :D

From the little I read of hers (Jack_White) thus far I like;) ... I adore HR even when he was with Black Flag ... Felt sorry for Joe; he (HR) could never get over that; read most of his work *brilliant* ... I once wrote him 50 letters (blush) and he sent me a catalog! Damn, bastard!!
