Heartless God

By GothicBlack

I’m lying
In the warm embrace
Of a heartless God
With the rise of dawn
Sunlight bathes
My open wounds
Burning through my soul
I stand here
Empty handed
With a tear stained cheek
Just another day
To mark the world

Can’t one just love?

This is where all ends
The beginning of the morrow
History’s killing itself
Through self mutilation
Unabashed devotion
To the heartless God
Goddess of passion
While melancholy
Drips from water
Raindrops to the sky
Scattered on
Windless whispers
Secret lovers
Yesterday nothing more
Than tomorrow’s memory
And prayers go unheeded
The future is still unclear
Unwanted

Everyone needs to
Ignore their own future
And let the Gods
Do all of the walking, talking, living
And ultimately the dying

Very bleak and pessimistic poem filled will little room for hope. Not that I didn't like it or that it wasn't well written, because it was. And that us clearly how you were feeling at the time...... Helpless, powerless, pointless . I don't really believe in god as such anyway so I am not leaving my future in their hands! It's all about your perception and mood at the time. Attitude can lift or lower, but ultimately you own it. A great poetic piece. Thanks
