The Valley Of Dark Poetry

By shadowsinthelight

Yea, I walk through the valley of dark poetry

I enter this virtual valley of vague versification

Midway between Empyrean and Hutama

A massive depression in this landscape of malaise

The hillsides shredded as if torn asunder by some ancient beast of hell

Every stone owns layers of silent residue

Fallout from the souls who could not escape their inner demons

Many walks I have taken here, cold, scared and alone

Populated by searching souls and desperate hearts

Conjurors of concept weaving a plexus of prose

Accursed fragile egos of vowel chimers are dismayed by untimely silence

Somber sonnets of perverse phantoms appear from the hedonistic fray

A thousand feathery demons of blackness peck at my sanity

As fevered winds whisper festering, rotted temptations

What penance must be endured, a brief burning kiss on underside of flesh

Ethereal melodies of madness reverberate

Reticent cries of the covert cutters of their own innocence

The avatar of living nightmares makes his rounds

Galloping by on a steed of gray fading into the dismal mists of pain

I see the visages of vindicated demon sluts surrounded by tilted crucifixes

Hark the calls of 2dawgs and an army of one marching to their own rhythms

Dithyramb observes patterns of self-imposed chaos, thinking it is separate

I see innocents believing they have evil and the devil within

Psychotic laws generally seem to be the rule of thumb

Ahh, the delicious sting of the scorpion queen of Hela

Causes hallucinations of distorted penguins and wicked monkeys

Scampering to drink the essence of my bloody wrists and bloodier ankles

Wearing their rueful smiles of sorrow

Escaped asylum princesses, fallen angels of hope and the faerie, Missy, watch

The tears of crystal and stars that shatter as they hit the unyielding grounds of reality

Minds are splattered with a gothic black, characterized by filth

Like badges of honor they wear their Damocles fates

There are saints who roam this desolate land of odious odes

Giving a brief respite to the skeletal remains of decorticated hearts and souls

There are flashes of brilliant light and character from every shadow dweller here

This, I believe, is the luminance of their true beings, once darkness is vanquished

Temporal beings pursue and consume my own existence

Taunting my every breath, heartbeat and tear

These harbingers of decay do prey on the uncomprehending ascendancy of youth

As it is sadly evaporated by the ill winds of despair

Cacophonous calls of unripe minds believing they are ready for the harvest, resonate

I offer relics from my past, causing small explosions of dust, unanswered prayers

Only to eventually to be forgotten in the compost piles of acrimonious dreams

All here are my bastard sons and brothers, illegitimate daughters and sisters,

Imagined lovers, silent enemies, my shadow family

All interconnected by words, lines and double helixes

I sigh beneath the burden of my nuclear hemorrhaging

The echoes of esoteric metaphors that conceal more than reveal

Yet torment my questioning soul

As I terminate this fatal vision from my apocalyptic dr. ash-coated window

One last zephyr of Hades attempts to blow me away

Alas, another perilous journey has ended

It is now safe to turn off your computer
