"Happily Depressed"

By happilydepressed

I’m so happily depressed
Hard but easily expressed
I’m a crying clown
I’m happy when I’m down
Laugh with me when I cry
Tell me what you think of me don’t lie
Walk all over me treat me like dirt
Make me cry make me hurt
It’s only when I have that gloomy attitude
I’m truly at beatitude
I’m so obsessed
With being manically depressed
Talk behind my back or say it to my face
Put me below the human race
I’m crying on the outside but I’m laughing inside
Sadly I’m too happy for suicide
Break my heart destroy the love
Sad things I think of
Put me down
Make me frown
Throw away the smiles and sunshine
Leave me in the darkness and I’ll be fine
Because I’ll be alone
I’ll be unknown
That’s just how I feel
The joyful pain is so real
Laughter I’ve repressed
I’m so happily depressed

This was profound in my opinion. Your ink holds necessary weight between the lines 🔥🔥🔥

  • A former member wrote: I love the rhyme and the paradoxes, which, combined, really create the feeling of insanity that runs through the entire poem. The almost singsongy feeling created by your rhyming and short-ish longs reminds me of Lewis Carroll, who also wrote song-like poems that could be disturbingly dark beneath the surface. (granted, here the disturbing is much clearer.) The repetition of the first line at the end brings the poem full circle, to a nice close. As someone with depression, I can understand the feeling of "wanting" to be depressed, as it can be quite... cozy. Anyway, thanks for sharing this great write -cheryl

Pretty schizo High Def. Reminds me of how I feel sometimes when I hurt inside but the pain is so familiar it almost feels like a friend. Scholar
