I Do Not Write Poetry For Poets
By shadowsinthelight
I write for the women I love
I write for dogs in heaven above
I write for friends who don't appreciate
I write for the naked woman on the stage
But I do not write poetry for poets
I write for the couple walking down the aisle
I write for the girl who died for a life-style
I write for the passion of love and hate
I write for the traffic that made me late
But I do not write poetry for poets
I write for those who've passed away
I write for rainbows and cloudy days
I write for God, Satan and eternity
I write for the hopelessly lonely
But I do not write poetry for poets
I write for the sheer need to write
I write when I cannot sleep at night
I write mostly for myself
For everyone and everything else
But I do not write poetry for the poets

We all have our reasons for writing, whatever yours are, I am glad that you do write. Poetry opens our eyes and minds to things once unseen

Poet are not anyone. They are those gifted in writing poetry, and those who can see what others can not.

If one of the definitions of Poet is "a author of poetry" and one of the definitions of poetry is as Zopheil pointed out "prose that resembles a poem in some respect, as in form or sound" then anything can be considered poetry

the definition of "form" covers all of existence and poems are not excusive to
a literary context they can be spoken or even comunicated through dance,so as much as it pains me to say this,Bob down the street playing pocket poll is a poet. Now wether he

Poetry is not everything. Poetry is literary work that shows the beauty that the poet sees.

Lumping everything and everyone in with those two is ridiculous. Saying Bob from down the street is a poet because he's playing pocket pull is wrong. ;)

Alot of times I ask myself what poetry is, and poets ... Is it the ability to stand and be poetic rather then write. And what is it to be poetic. Also ... art? What the ... Well most often I choose to make my own definitions.

I gues that when every word spawning individual got there own, I should have mine aswell. But what I got, is offcource just a mix of that, and I stand a mix of everyones feelings and ideas of poetry, art and any of such things.
