In the broken recesses of a shattered mind
My soul crosses a line
Burdened by the darkness of time
Can’t see a path to redemption
Resigned to knowing I’ll never be whole
What becomes of this battered soul?
Do I take, or do I lose control
Does it matter, as both paths lead to darker deeds?
How on God’s earth did I sow these seeds
I remember the day as your voice faded away
Memories sacrificed to the fog of time
I remember still, our last glass of wine
Words I see but no longer hear
Is it compassion or a curse for these memories to fade
Everyday punished as these thoughts decay
I am the burden of my own mind
A victim of time
Peace I’ll never find
Fearing an endless stream of sunset days
Without you to keep the demons at bay
Soon I’ll visit your grave
Punishing myself for the love I could not save
