Silence of the unknown—Once my home
Now rests within an empty shell
Teasing me with thoughts of escaping this hell
I ponder as butterflies scream
Knowing the darkness I bring

Rapt attention of the cosmos as I take my final steps
Bereft by this world of cosmopolitan chaos
Cinching my coat as an imaginary barrier of the world once adored
Blanketed now in empty thoughts, abhorred
I tease the cosmos with pursed lips
What will he say, can our spirits he lift?
Paper thin and just as fragile – I have no words left to speak
Pursed lips filled with emptiness of the meek
Rendered with desiccated watercolor dreams
Scenes of something once so sodden with hope
Now dry and barren as this rope I weave
I whisper to you in tears dry as the Sahara rain
Dreaming only to end unimaginable…pain

"desiccated watercolor dreams" That got my brain quite excited. An extraordinary decomposition. Brilliant. Scholar

Wow such a journey in this piece the imagery portrayed here is amazing. I caught a typo on line 5 I believe, "kowing (to knowing) the darkness I bring." Other than that good stuff and thank you for sharing.

The image is immaculate and the poem was equally so. I got stuck on the line "pursed lips filled with emptiness of the meek/rendered with desiccated watercolor dreams/scenes of something once so sodden with hope/now dry and barren". Such beautifully bereft imagery. I also liked the juxtaposition of the poem itself describing death as cold and a thing of the cosmos against the author's note which is almost triumphant. Really intriguing piece.
