Burn Burn Burn

By Jonas Robinson

Why do people burn
The burning of a blazing sun
As though it does not all ready burn
In stanch and heat and loitering lust

The bleeding truth of soft decay
Rotting in the evil trees
With Devil's secrets and Devil's ways
Lying there beneath love itself

As though she were not dead and gone
As ghost or lies or ways of the wicked

But, know this
She was once there, in fruit and blood
Spirit at one, soul to the sun

And whether the spirits of lava or love
Can ever dissever the ghost from the blood
Can ever deceive one another so cold
They will always burn, and lie as they do

That burning will win
As, you will too

without consequence, we shall either burn with our bodies being licked by flames, or rot away in our graves as the earth decays our body. love and death are twins, though death resents love because love is universally accepted and practiced, while death is consumed by the rejection of society because like many of us, it is often misunderstood. so when given the chance, it lashes out, exemplifying a powerful rage. this is my interpretation of your wondrous piece.

I found this interesting as a sort of back and forth between love and death. The analogies throughout helped keep the flow going in a way that kept me off balance but on track from line to line. Really cool imagery :)

Thank you, very much. I love imagery myself. I'm glad you could take enchantment from my work. :)

The spirit of love being like lava is a cool idea.

Nature uses the wildfire for renewal. To burn isn't always bad. We like this piece it makes us think along different lines.

The evil wood knows no good. Much enjoyed this characterization of something perhaps dead and buried but still smoldering nevertheless. Cheers JR and welcome to DP! - Dan
