Big Sister
By dwells
Big Sister
The worker bee is thankful for the role that he must play
The termite queen encumbered by the eggs that she will lay
The soldier ant is watchful, knowing death will be his pay
And Man within his city comes to know he must obey
The young are being drafted; doing battle far away
Their victories are many; where they sent them none can say
My youngest is a warrior, and she wears the Pink Beret
They feed us old baloney from the market on the quay
We eat it as we wonder on the “special of the day”
Then talk about the whereabouts of obstinate O’Shea?
Big Sister says she loves us, and she always gets her way
She speaks of great tomorrows; for her visions we should pray
I’m writing this from prison while my hair is turning gray
The firing squad is shooting more Contrarians today

And while the workers do their job, they never think of heir; for truth be told our precious queen just sits around on welfare! Ha! I liked this brother.

Well damn!! A piece that has the rhythmic mood of a World War Two sing a long song, mixed with modern day cynicism, while showing the similiAr nuances between being human, and being an animal.....plus....the subtext of the second theme, and the twist on the normal totalitarian regime mentality it stands for.......had me smirk more than the joker, and the Cheshire catch, having.....a smile off.
This was a great read....I liiiiiiiiiiiked it. Than us for sharing

Great tomorrows only for those prefer to be worker bees. I think "Big Sister" might be up to something these days. It's looking more & more like it definitely could happen, and it will definitely be nWo-related.

I tried to comment on this several times...really like this poem, seems as though the rhyme scheme was so deliberate...but loved the ending, death to all Contrarians!!
