the night calls
By FadedBlues
“for him the night calls
out of the dawn and sunset
who has made poems.” E E Cummings
do not imprison me in a love poem.
I need to wander, in pursuit of art;
to follow the ever hidden, unwritten
passions of my wayward heart.
speak my name, the words that define me.
how many shades of blue can stain a man’s
life? the Alice blue of tears. a tincture of vanity,
royal as any beggar. glaze of solitude (alone by
design), dark as a midnight sky. indigo ink that
bruises the page with these vainglorious words.
like the last minutes of a sunset, I fade ever
more through these days that rain down fire.
and I am already a ghost.
count the nights, and remember that under
the sheets we only shared the selfish yearnings
of the flesh.
do not imprison me, nor call me lover –
what have I ever been for you?
nothing more than a shadow on your heart…

A very strong read that speaks to me of yearning.....Perhaps we are always the beggar when we celebrate our own pining.....Whether a hungriness to be loved or the melancholy longing to being alone.....Nobody was greater than the late Charles Bukowski at panhandling both ends of it.... So yeah, damned if I didn't think I was reading Butkowski with this one

Bravisimo!! "I have been nothing more than a shadow on your hear," this is a truly epic line and verse. The entirety of your art has been magnificent. Truly a pleasure reading.
This one is for keeps!

God damn... I love that you included the inspiration. Defining your inner poet...you give us much. The words you use are classic without being historical, easily read, smooth flowing and brilliant. Definitely a new favorite, I want to bookmark this - XXOO

Friends, your words are sterling & awesome, & all I can gift you with in return is a feeble Thank You. but I won't offer false humility, only more poetry. it's what we do here...

Oh, how much I'd like to crawl inside your muses hues and dissect the spectrums. I can't stand romanticism but you make me want cradle it's poetics inside my own. Much love darlin'

Wow...yes, this is incredible writing, it is nice to come across something that is tough to compliment properly... every word and line in this adds to the feeling you deliver...indigo ink that bruises the page with these vainglorious words..." Absolutely beautiful, poetry at its finest... Love it -NN

Beautifully written... I think this is my favorite by you so far! "count the nights, and remember that under the sheets we only shared the selfish yearnings of the flesh." that past was breathtaking... and your finish..."do not imprison me, nor call me lover – what have I ever been for you? nothing more than a shadow on your heart…" perfection... There would have been no better way to end this piece. amazing stuff :) xoxo
