in my letter from Vietnam

By FadedBlues

[ just the usual sappy stuff at the beginning.
couple lines about the USO show. some remarks
about the weather (boring). a little about me
being scared (really boring).  oh, and then this: ]

when I return, we will sit by the fire and hold
each other forever. tho 'forever' is only the moments
that heaven allows us. outside, the moon casts
iridescent veils of light across a proud sky. and when
the fire reduces to ashes, and we have faded into an
angel's dream, only the air will remain in the space
where we were, and the air will whisper
     'there was love here.'

A wonderfully different start, ringing with blackened humour. Then we get to enjoy the beautifully romantic lines, that expressed the longing for reunion so Vividly! This was an absolute joy!
