Fear Of The Dark

Fear Of The Dark
In Western skies, the sun hangs low,
Into the Night the world goes-
Descending fast into the black of night-
No signs of light, no spark, nor fire-
There’s no escape, no hero sired-
Shadows cover the world tight-
The pitch black sky holds up no stars-
There’s no return, you’ve gone too far-
No God, or King, or Knight shall come to save you-
Heavy fog rolls in from all around-
The beating of your heart is the only sound-
Shadows steel away the life that Daylight gave you-
Horrific visions in your mind-
Feels like there’s something right behind-
You turn around, but nothing’s there-
You hear a voice call out your name-
Calling from beyond the grave-
Short
of breath, thin is the air-
The fog so thick, you can not see-
A creature lurking in the trees-
With eyes as red as a bleeding wound-
The shapeless shadows grip you tight-
The Dead rise from their graves this night-
This is the night to meet your doom-
Running through the lightless night-
In danger, running for your life-
A lurking demon cuts you down-
Branded with the mark-
So many reasons to Fear the Dark-
Another life lost, never found.

Lurking demons, the rising dead, indeed many reasons to fear the dark. An amazing tribute to my favorite Maiden song.

Very intense imagery. Reminds me a little of my piece called Anxiety.

Ok, so I may get kicked out of the metalhead cabal for this buuuuut....gotta tell you, this called Michael Jackson and Thriller to mind just as easily...which I also loved but do give me a little wiggle room on this one. I was only like 7 at the time. Either way, great piece. Loved reading it.
