Cycling Crimes.

By Rachel

And I just might write tonight
of love and loss
and lines we've crossed.
Of space between
and broken dreams and how
we tried too hard,
it seems.
Of how we two can't
trust each other while
sharing ourselves
with another.
You, your heart, or
I, my bed
(each being worse
in the other's stead.)
Or we could
go back to the start,
before we
two
did fall apart.
But we'd end up back here
in time, recommitting
cycling crimes.
Why take the risk with all
at stake, to make mistakes
we'll always make?
Just to call yourself
my lover?
Though all each does is hurt the other.
So consider this
my resignation.  My heart
can't take this
palpitation.
I'm bowing out
with care
and grace.
I can not choose this
as my place.
I hope that you will see
in time why I've had to
pen these lines and when
we two shall meet again, I hope
to do so as your friend.

Each pause perfect, each line felt. Such a delicate flow, seeming to be without all the over the top emotions, resigned, and yet not dismissive...Wonderful write! Scholar
